Athens Pride is a celebration of visibility and equality organized for the 16th year in the city center. At a time when human rights are being challenged more than ever, we continue to work to increase visibility, stepping up our efforts to raise issues that concern the LGBTQI+ community in Greece. Athens Pride Week is the festival organized the week before the big march. Through cultural, recreational, artistic, educational and sports events, organizations, individuals, artists and collectives join forces to raise, express and debate publicly, human rights and LGBTQI+ issues. For this reason, we cordially invite artists or collectives representing different forms of art (performing arts, visual arts, cinema, documentary, literature, poetry, comics, etc.) to send us their ideas and to open a constructive dialogue with the public, regarding issues that affect the LGBTQI + community in Greece.
As Athens Pride we believe that art is the right mean to speak in a direct and creative way about issues that concern us all. We hope that, through the participation of representatives from different forms of art, we will send our message and spread our mission to every corner of Greek society. What we want is to make our voices heard. After all human rights is something that should touch us all.
Since 2016, more than 200 independent events have been organized by individuals, organizations, collectives and cultural institutions, such as the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center, Stegi of the Onassis Foundation, Animasyros, the Greek Film Archive, the Athens Festival, etc. For the preparation and shaping of the program of Athens Pride Week 2021 the Athens Pride Festival, Athens Pride invites all interested parties to submit their proposals by Thursday 01 April 2021 in order to emerge the actions that will be the program of events of Athens Pride Week 2021. The program will be prepared both by project assignments and by a selection of proposals to be submitted under this call. The proposed productions must explore the thematic identity of the Festival and the values that govern it.
