To Σεπτέμβριο του 2008 η γκαλερί μετακόμισε στο καινούργιο χώρο της στην αναπτυσσόμενη περιοχή του Μεταξουργείου, στη καρδιά της Αθήνας. Το νέο κτήριο, που στην αρχική του χρήση την δεκαετία του ’70 ήταν εργοστάσιο παγωτού, εκτείνεται σε 550 τ.μ. και σε 3 επίπεδα. Το 2008 τo κτήριο τιμήθηκε στην κατηγορία του από το Ελληνικό Ινστιτούτο Αρχιτεκτονικής.

The Breeder gallery, founded in November 2002 by George Vamvakidis and Stathis Panagoulis, was inaugurated with a solo show by British artist Jim Lambie. The gallery currently represents a core group of 25 artists whose careers it aims to develop by acting as a liaison with international galleries, curators, institutions, museums and collectors. Since its opening, the gallery has introduced selected international artists and projects to the Athenian public and has presented Greek artists abroad.

In September 2008 the gallery moved to larger premises in the up and coming Metaxourgio district of downtown Athens. The new building, a completely renovated 1970s-era ice cream factory, boasts 550 sq. m. of floor space on three stories. In 2008 the building was awarded in its category by the Hellenic Institute of Architecture.

Η έκθεση-δημοπρασία «Artists for Athens Pride 2009», η πρώτη του είδους της, προσέφερε σε φιλότεχνους και συλλέκτες τη μοναδική ευκαιρία να αποκτήσουν ποιοτικά έργα ζωγραφικής, γλυπτικής, σχέδιου και φωτογραφίας σε εξαιρετικές τιμές, και συγχρόνως να υποστηρίξουν το φιλανθρωπικό έργο του Athens Pride.

The 18 artists who have generously donated important works, representative of their practices, are among the most established in today’s Greek art scene. They have been internationally recognized in solo shows and major visual arts events such as the Venice Biennale and biennials in Istanbul, Alexandria, Limerick and elsewhere. A number them have permanent works in public spaces in Athens and cities abroad.

The benefit exhibition “Artists for Athens Pride 2009,” the first of its kind, offered art lovers and collectors a unique opportunity to acquire superior quality paintings, sculptures, drawings and photographs at extraordinary prices and at the same time support the philanthropic project of Athens Pride.

Παράλληλα, δραστηριοποιείται  ενεργά στο χώρο του  LGBT ακτιβισμού, είναι υπεύθυνη για θέματα αντισημιτισμού στο Ελληνικό Παρατηρητήριο των Συμφωνιών του Ελσίνκι και έχει εμφανιστεί ως αρχική πολιτικώς ενάγουσα σε αρκετές δίκες περί αντισημιτισμού. Συμμετέχει στη διοργάνωση του Athens Pride από την έναρξη του το 2005 και είναι μέλος της Οργανωτικής Επιτροπής του από το 2006. Επιπλέον είναι μέλος του Δ.Σ. του InterPride (Διεθνούς Ένωσης Pride Οργανωτών).

Andrea Gilbert is a New York-born art critic and curator living and working in Athens since 1989. She has curated major international group exhibitions (“SKIN,” Deste Foundation; “Magic,” vamiali’s gallery) and numerous solo shows. Recently she curated the exhibition of Greek LGBT archival material and ephemera, “Istoria mou, amartia mou…” at Spilioti Projects. Her reviews and essays regularly appear in exhibition catalogues, in the foreign press, and in her regular column in the fortnightly Greek newspaper “City Uncovered.”

In tandem to her art career, Ms. Gilbert is also a prominent LGBT and Jewish activist. She is the Greek Helsinki Monitor specialist on anti-Semitism, and has been the initial civil claimant in several anti-Semitism. She has been involved in the Athens Pride organization since its inception in 2005, and has been a member of the Organizing Committee since 2006. She is also serves on the Board of InterPride, the International Association of Pride Organizers.
